FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything you wanted to know about Doxapoll.
What is Doxapoll?
One question. Every day. Answer it, then see how the rest of the world voted, broken down by country, age, gender, political leaning, and more. That's it. No algorithm, no feed, no doomscrolling. Proudly built in Canada.
Is my vote anonymous?
Yes, genuinely. Your vote is private by design. It is stored under a random token, not your email address. Even we can't tell who voted for what. The results you see are always aggregated across thousands of people.
Why do you ask for demographic info?
Totally optional, but it makes the results way more interesting. Filling in your age, gender, or political leaning lets you filter results and see how different groups think. Everything is encrypted and secured on our end, and never sold. If you'd rather skip it, that's fine. You can still vote and explore.
Who writes the questions?
We do, for now. We try to keep them thought-provoking, fair, and occasionally a little silly. No trick questions. No agenda.
How often is there a new question?
One question per day. We might change this in the future but just the one question per day for now. Quick fun daily routine.
Can I see past questions and results?
Yes. Tap Results in the nav to browse every question we've ever asked, along with the full breakdown of how people voted.
Is Doxapoll free?
Yes, completely free. No subscription, no premium tier, no ads. Just a daily question. We'll try to keep it this way for as long as possible, until we run out of money to maintain the platform.
Is my data sold to anyone?
No. Never. Not now, not later. We don't have ads. Your data stays private. We're not building a profile of you to sell to insurance companies or political campaigns. The whole point of Doxa is that opinions should be heard, not monetised.
Why should I care what strangers think?
You probably shouldn't take it as gospel, but it's genuinely interesting to see how wildly people's views differ across countries, generations, and backgrounds. Doxa isn't about telling you what to think. It's about showing you the full picture of what people actually believe.
Can I vote more than once?
No. One vote per question, per person. We check this server-side, so no amount of page-refreshing will help.
How do I delete my account?
Go to your Profile page and scroll to the bottom. You'll find a 'Delete account' option. One confirmation tap and your profile, email, and account are gone permanently. Your past votes remain in our anonymised results.
Is this just for Canadians?
No, Doxapoll is for everyone. That said, we acknowledge that some questions may feel more relevant to certain cultures or regions than others. That is something we will do our best to improve. Our goal is to mix globally applicable questions with ones that are more region-specific, so that everyone feels represented regardless of where they're from.
Could I lie on my profile?
Yes, technically. We don't verify any of it. But the whole point of Doxa is to see what people actually think, broken down by who they actually are. If you fudge your age or politics, you're only distorting results you came here to explore. It is your call :)
What does 'Doxa' mean?
Doxa is an ancient Greek word meaning 'belief' or 'opinion'. It felt right.
